"For 8 years we built up our own
business, won awards for innovation, became paper millionaires and
thought we had made it. We realised all too late how unstable it
all was and post 9/11 we lost two major clients, our investors
wanted out and very quickly our house of cards fell. In Jan 2002
our company was in liquidation with the realisation that the only
two real assets we had were ourselves - nothing else had any true
value in the marketplace and in our mind, neither did we.
We had failed - failed our two
children, failed our marriage, and mostly failed
ourselves. We had dreams that we could see no way of
making happen and had to go back to a “job” to service
our financial debts, this meant a 200 mile round trip to
London.

Never seeing our children or family, we
worked desperately to keep our home that we were never in, and
service our crippling debts.
All of this took a significant toll on Dolores’ health and well
being, “I was depressed and on medication. I had regular
appalling migraines and ended up in hospital. In addition, at 12
½ stone and size 16 I was the heaviest I had ever been.
It was then, at my lowest point, when in desperation I put “Work
from Home” into the search engine of my PC. To this day, I do
not know how I found myself following the links to entering my
details onto my sponsor’s website, but I did and what I saw
after that intrigued me.”
Committing to buying the IBP was traumatic. We were broke and
every penny had to be accounted for, but Dolores knew this was
something that we could do and put faith into what was being
said, in broken English, at the end of a line from Norway!! Our
sponsor told Dolores one thing, he said; “…before you try to
start this business use the products…. …do not try and start the
way that you are currently feeling.” That was the best advice
that Dolores had. She lost 8lbs in 8 days and went on to loose a
total of 3 ½ stone in 5 months. It was, however, the experience
of a 12 month long black hole lifting from under her that was
most incredible. The energised and positive feelings
that she suddenly felt gave her the strength to start again.
“I had such a strong product result, that the people
around me started to notice. I went out and see my friends and
family again – many of the ones that I had neglected – and
noticing the difference in me, they asked about the products and
what I was doing
Two weeks into the business, the Friday before my first STS, I
drove to Slough to see that Herbalife UK really existed. I
arrived with cheques for pre-ordered product. From the STS
onwards we have never looked back and found a way to qualify for
every event and challenge ourselves to stretch for every
promotion. “I was standing with a group of people waiting to get
the bus to one of the fantastic Herbalife Parties, when Alan
Lorenz turned to me and said, “So Dolores are you ready to go?”
- I knew he didn’t just mean the party. I looked him in the eyes
and said, “Yes, I am on my way!””. Our focus has always been
strongly retail, because we know how much the products can
change lives , form our own experience, and it has been through
building a team that also carries this ethos that we have now
progressed to the next level of the Marketing Plan.
Our success is the ongoing result of steady hard work
and momentum and being teachable. We know now that our
initial belief in ourselves was true - we can make a difference
and be successful, but not all by ourselves. The trick is the
support of the others around you, Herbalife UK welcomed us into
the STS and into a business network that is unsurpassed
by any that we have known, we have always sort to repay
the initial support that we were given by actively being
involved in the STS.
